Small and personal
Our power is our small size. We are close to the people, personal involvement, using our local contacts and through simple resources, we make significant changes to the lives of families; that is what drives us. We go on an “outreach” regularly to one of the NTT islands and Bali to ‘scout’ patients. We work beside our Kolewa-team with local free-lance scouts, give education, advice, organise consultations and make small medical treatments possible, such as wound care on the spot. Why? Because it is impossible for these families to travel far or to pay for transportation and treatment.
In the last few years, we have built up a stable network of local cooperation partners. Read more
We acquired expertise in the area of eye problems, hearing problems, speech therapy, orthopaedics, mental and physical handicaps, revalidation and devices, for example.
We can adapt quickly to the situations and offer the needed help. No long trails and lots of counselling, but we start immediately: we realise the result on short term and in a practical way. We are creative in finding solutions and keep trying until we succeed.
Kolewa wants to set an example by motivating, stimulating and supporting the execution and putting forward ideas. With this, a few universal values and rights are leading, such as the rights of the child, right for health and medical treatment. An important focus is an education: not only from the children but also through giving education and information to the parents about (living with) an impairment, health and hygiene. With this, our staff is being educated and trained by our Indonesian field partners. The attention to education has the purpose of raising awareness for improving health, the medical facilities and the care for the population.
